British prime minister Boris Johnson has offered to help demine Ukrainian ports in a bid to restart grain shipments from the country.

At a Parliamentary Liaison Committee meeting — which mostly drew attention because of the increasing questions around Johnson’s political future — he said London’s marine insurance market would also play a role in covering shipments out of the Black Sea through the Bosporus.

At the meeting, Johnson was asked by Foreign Affairs Committee chairman Tom Tugendhat what the UK is doing to help release grain from Ukraine ports to prevent a global food shortage.
