Finnish dry bulk operator ESL Shipping will be the first to start using a new marine fuel produced by Neste that promises an up to 80% reduction in emissions from a blend of renewable materials.

ESL Shipping said it will burn the Neste Marine 0.1 Co-processed marine fuel in its vessels in Finland and Sweden.

The ISCC PLUS certified fuel enables up to 80% reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions over the life cycle compared to fossil fuels without compromising performance, according to Neste

ESL Shipping is the leading carrier of dry bulk cargoes in the Nordic and Baltic regions and managing director Mikki Koskinen said it has been waiting for the co-processed marine fuel for a long time.
