Handysize rates hit an all-year peak this week amid firm fixture activity, particularly from charterers from the European continent.
The weighted time charter equivalent (TCE) average for the small bulkers gained $271 per day to $8,846 per day by Friday, according to Baltic Exchange assessments.
The Baltic Handysise Index (BHSI) improved by 20 points over the week to 491 points.
