China’s HNA Technology has splashed out $106m on six secondhand bulk carriers as it continues to grow its fleet.

The owner, formerly known as Tianjin Tianhai Investment Co and Tianjin Marine Shipping, has bought one panamax and five supramaxes, according to a regulatory filing.

It paid $18.5m for the 74,500-dwt Van Continent (built 2007), $16m for the 53,600-dwt Van Auspicious (built 2006), $18.6m for the 53,400-dwt Van Bonita (built 2008), $16.7m for the 53,400 Van Eternity (built 2007), $17m for the 52,400-dwt Van Duffy (built 2006) and $19.2m
