A Greek-owned bulker’s shipment of coal from Russia to Turkey is raising questions about recent European Union sanctions.

The 57,982-dwt Stavros (built 2010) loaded 53,000 tonnes of coal at the Taman Bulk Cargo Terminal on the Black Sea on 29 August, Bloomberg reported on Friday.

Citing Kpler and Logistic OS data, the newswire reported that the Eastern Mediterranean Maritime-managed ship arrived in Iskenderun, Turkey, on 5 September.
