Stena Bulk is in direct talks with Iranian authorities as it looks to free the crew of the Stena Impero, held captive since Friday.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard seized the 49,638-dwt MR2 tanker (built 2018) while it was sailing international waters in the Strait of Hormuz at the hands of 23 seamen.

"Stena Bulk and Northern Marine Management continue to hold dialogue with all the governments and authorities directly involved in order to secure the release of crew and vessel," chief executive Erik Hanell said today in a statement.
