Connecticut-based Penfield Marine is weeks away from executing its third carbon-neutral voyage as a tanker pool, continuing to blaze a trail that is being watched but not yet followed by most of its competitors.

Penfield managers told TradeWinds in a recent interview that the latest offsets will be applied to a panamax fixture, following an initial voyage for a suezmax last June and then an aframax cargo at the end of 2021.

With the latest voyage, Penfield will have executed carbon offsets in all three of its tanker pools, electing to bear the costs of the product in each case.
