Five workers have been killed after an explosion tore through a drillship undergoing maintenance at Cochin Shipyard (CSL) in India on Tuesday.

Local media said another 15 people were injured, but the casualty figures could rise, according to police.

There was also a report of three men still trapped inside the vessel.

A water tank reportedly exploded on ONGC's 9,100-dwt Sagar Bhushan (built 1987) in the morning.
