Greek domestic cargo operator Creta Cargo Lines’ 4,200-gt ro-ro vessel Nearchos has run aground atop an active volcanic mound off the island of Santorini.

The incident took place on Saturday morning.

Local media stated that the ship’s ice-strengthened hull suffered a small, controlled inflow of water at its bow.

There have been no reports of any pollution.
