A Vallianz Offshore pipe-layer was seriously damaged over the weekend after it was involved in a collision with a Pertamina tanker while anchored off the Indonesian island of Bintan at the eastern entrance to the Singapore Strait.

The ’s 147-metre S-lay deepwater pipe-layer Star Centurion (built 2002) was hit by Pertamina’s 40,000-dwt product tanker Antea (built 2002). The Hong Kong-flagged, Bernhard Schulte-managed tanker was en route from Singapore to Ambon at the time the collision took place.
