A Japanese fast ferry has hit what is believed to be a whale, injuring 80 people.
Sado Steamship has apologised for the incident in the Sea of Japan on Sunday, according to Kyodo News.
Six of the passengers were seriously hurt in the collision with a "marine animal", the shipowner said.
The jetfoil suffered damaged to its hull and machinery.
