A sunken general cargoship is being raised in Fiji - only to be scuttled later.

The Fiji Sun reported that the island's maritime safety authority has partially refloated the 4,300-dwt Southern Phoenix (built 1986) off Suva.

But more work needs to be done before any further movement is carried out.

A salvage company is to shift the vessel to a holding area eventually, before it is towed to its scuttling site, weather depending.
