The charity that maintains and operates navigational infrastructure in the Middle East Gulf is winning the battle to increase vital fees from shipowners.

The Middle East Navigation Aids Service (MENAS) needs an extra $2m this year to renew its differential global positioning system (DGPS) stations.

But getting shipowners to pay navigational dues for the service has not always been easy.
