A Greek tanker blamed by the Brazilian government for an oil spill that is still washing up on the country’s shores is likely in the clear, according to a leading satellite image analyst.

Brazilian authorities had singled out the Delta Tankers-owned, 164,000-dwt Bouboulina (built 2006), after studying satellite images from the area.

However, Humberto Barbosa, coordinator of the Satellite Image Processing and Analysis Laboratory (Lapis) at Alagoas Federal University (Ufal) that is close to the area affected, has claimed otherwise.
