Another great British institution has fallen victim to the coronavirus – the BBC’s Shipping Forecast.
From Monday iconic names such as Dogger, German Bight, Cromarty and FitzRoy will be heard just three times a day instead of four.
“There are some changes for the foreseeable future to the way the BBC will broadcast the UK Marine Weather Service – including the Shipping Forecast – owing to the impact of coronavirus (Covid-19),” the UK’s Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) announced Sunday.
