An Iranian general cargoship allegedly being used for military purposes has reportedly been attacked in the Red Sea.

Iranian news outlet Tasnim reported that the 23,175-dwt Saviz (built 1999) was struck with limpet mines in an attack offshore Yemen, according to Reuters.

The report follows several published by outlets across the Middle East.

Maritime security consultancy Dryad Global said the ship was reportedly involved in an "incident" but provided no further details.
