An AP Moller-Maersk ultra-large container ship that grounded outside the port of Bremerhaven, Germany, has been refloated.
According to the country’s Central Command for Maritime Emergencies, the 20,000-teu Mumbai Maersk (built 2018) was refloated by the 178-tonne bollard pull tug Union Sovereign and the 113 bollard pull tug Neuwerk.
Six tugs were in attendance during the operation, which took place at midnight during high tide.
It was the second attempt to refloat the vessel.
