Ship detentions are continuing on a downward trajectory in Paris MOU countries, but the port state control organisation has warned owners to make sure they comply with the IMO's new low-sulphur fuel rules next year.

In its 2018 annual report, Paris MOU said the detention percentage decreased to 3.15% from 3.87% in 2017, which it called "significant", and the number of detainable deficiencies also decreased to 3,171 from 3,883.
