Three seafarers have died and another nine remained missing on Wednesday after their vessel ran aground in typhoon Bising off the Philippines.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) began a search operation off Surigao del Norte on 19 April following the incident involving the 1,200-gt LCT Cebu Great Ocean.

The Malimono Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said on Wednesday that eight crew members were located alive, but three bodies were also recovered after washing up on a beach in the morning.
