The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) is calling for the release of the Wakashio crew on the anniversary of the bulker's grounding on Mauritius.

The 203,000-dwt Wakashio (built 2007) ran aground on 25 July spilling 1,000 tonnes of fuel oil onto its shores.

Since the accident the ship’s master, Sunil Kumar Nandeshwar, and chief officer, Tilakaratna Subodha, have been charged and held in custody.
