Most of the top 12 liner operators have cut capacity in the year to date primarily by redelivering chartered vessels.

The sole exception was South Korean container carrier HMM, which has massively increased its fleet size, according to Alphaliner estimates.

Maersk led the way with the biggest capacity cuts.

The Danish giant has reduced the net size of its fleet by 55 ships in the first half of the year, or some 236,000 teu.
