Large boxships have been the star performers in the containership charter market for the past nine months.

But the record number of sailings cancelled by liner operators due to the coronavirus pandemic has suddenly sent the market into reverse.

More sailings are poised to be cancelled than ever before, pushing the idle fleet up to a record 3m teu.
