Technical experts hired by Danaos Corp plan to board a Zim-operated containership on Monday to ensure crew can return safely after a fire erupted in several containers on Friday.

The 4,253-teu Zim Kingston (built 2008) sailed into bad weather en-route from South Korea's Busan to Vancouver, Canada, that caused dozens of boxes to fall overboard and others to catch fire while on the ship.

The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) will allow the technical team to board the ship, which was ordered to anchor off the coast, and then "evaluate the situation" with six marine firefighters, Danaos said.
