Tonnage provider Global Ship Lease (GSL) has struck deals for more new charters, and for longer durations and increasingly attractive rates, according to executive chairman George Youroukos.

The New York-listed company chartered out 11 ships from 2,200 teu to 6,800 teu in the first quarter for periods ranging from 21 months to four years.

The deals will add $280m of revenue as a result of charter rates doubling for several of GSL's vessels.
