Hapag-Lloyd shares raced to the highest level on record today as the German container line booked a strong second quarter performance.

Its stock surged by one fifth as a profitable quarterly performance was coupled with stable full-year guidance.

Berenberg Capital analysts led by Joel Spungin described the interim results as well ahead of expectations and the forecast as reflecting good probability for 2019.
