Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (KSOE) has raked in orders for eight newbuildings from two shipping companies.

In a regulatory filing, the South Korean shipbuilding group put the total value of the two contracts at KRW 525bn ($378m).

KSOE did not disclose the identity of the buyers but said “two African shipping firms” were behind the newbuildings.

One buyer has ordered up to four firm LNG-powered 1,400-teu container ships in a deal which includes a further two optional vessels.
