Danish shipowning giant AP Moller–Maersk has pushed up third quarter earnings despite the expected lower containership demand worldwide.

Net profit was $520m, up from $350m last year as revenue dipped 0.9% to $10.1bn.

Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) improved 14% to $1.7bn in the quarter - a margin of 16.5%.
