Mitsui OSK Lines has reported a 20% jump in first-half profit on the back of a much-improved result at jointly owned liner arm Ocean Network Express (ONE).

The Japanese shipowner booked a net profit for the first half of ¥30.2bn ($287.3m) against the ¥25.6bn achieved 12 months earlier.

The result, released on Friday morning, was well ahead of MOL’s earlier forecast of an ordinary first-half profit of ¥22bn.
