Container lines have resumed operating to the Port of Beirut, which is not as badly damaged as first feared.

Both France’s CMA CGM and Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd said operations were back to normal after the Beirut container port reopened last week.

CMA CGM added that damage to the Beirut terminal was "less serious than what could be expected".

One of the workers at CMA CGM’s office in Beirut was among hundreds killed in the massive explosion that brought the Lebanese port to a standstill on 4 August.
