Singapore-based Swire Shipping and Honolulu-headquartered Matson have revealed that they are launching a new general cargo liner service in the South Pacific.

The service will link New Zealand with the South Pacific islands of Tonga, Samoa, Cook Islands and Fiji. It will launch in January 2020 with sailings scheduled every ten days.

New York-listed Matson will provide the 8,200-dwt general cargo ships Imua II (built 2005) and the 7,400-dwt general cargo ship Olomana (built 2004), both of which are on long-term charter from MarConsult Schiffarht.
