The Greek government is to appoint shipowner Thanassis Martinos as the next civil governor of the Holy Mountain, an autonomous northern Greek region that hosts a 1,000-year old autonomous monastic community, state radio ERT reported on Wednesday.
The decision was taken by the country’ s freshly elected prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and has met with approval by senior Greek Orthodox clergy, the broadcaster said.
