Tonnage provider Global Ship Lease (GSL) has scooped much improved rates for new post-panamax container ship charters to Germany’s Hapag-Lloyd.

The London-based, New York-listed owner said six eco 6,900-teu vessels have been fixed out for five years, with two years of options for the liner company.

The deals are expected to generate average Ebitda of $13.1m per ship each year, for a total of $393m.
