Wan Hai Lines is forking out nearly $140m for another three sub-panamax boxships.

The Taiwanese liner company is buying another 2,700-teu vessel from the Schoeller Group and a pair of 1,800-teu newbuildings from Chinese near-sea liner operator and owner StarOcean Marine.

The Taipei-listed operator is paying $53m for the 2,741-teu Cape Magnus (built 2008), according to a stock exchange statement.

The price marks an improvement on the sale of similar vessels, including the 2,758-teu Cape Manila (built 2011), which was sold for $48m in January.
