Wilhelmsen Ship Management is going with scrubber technology on three of its pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs) to meet the International Maritime Organisation's requirement to lower sulphur emissions.

To that end, Wilhelmsen and Wartsila signed a five-year agreement for maintenance of scrubbers installed in three vessels managed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management.

The vessels, which were not identified except for the 5,496-ceu Tarago (built 2000), use Wartsila's hybrid scrubber, which operate in both open and closed loop settings.
