China’s Rong Cheng Great Dragon Shipping has sold an ageing Japanese-built ropax for recycling after failing to attract interest from trading buyers.
The 25,200-gt Yong Xia (built 1989) will be dismantled at an as yet undisclosed location on the Indian subcontinent.
The ship, bearing the name YX Gold and flagged in Palau, passed through the Singapore Strait under tow late last week on its voyage to the shipbreakers.
