Funds paid by Volkswagen as part of its ‘dieselgate’ settlement with the US are to go towards financing the conversion of three ferries from diesel to hybrid electric propulsion.
Washington State Ferries has said $35m has been approved for the project aboard its Jumbo Mark II class ferries, the largest in its fleet.
