A former Carnival Corp cruiseship broke from its moorings, drifted briefly near the shore and grounded on a sand bank three months it was purcahsed by Greek interests.

The 57,100-gt Aegean Majesty (ex-Veendam, built 1996) suffered the incident over the weekend amid gale-force winds throughout much of Greece.

The Aegean Majesty is one of six cruiseships that Greek ferry company Seajets bought over the past few months, with four of them coming from Carnival.
