A fire on a Philippines ferry has killed three people, but another 245 were rescued.
AP cited the coastguard as saying the blaze hit the engine of a vessel called Lite Ferry 16 on Wednesday off Dapitan City.
Spokesman Armand Balilo said: "We did not have any patrol ship in the area so we alerted nearby ships and boats to render assistance because it was an emergency.
