As the UK government tries to deal with negative publicity over "sleaze", it has been revealed that a former minister is being paid £60,000 ($81,564) per year for between 30 and 40 hours work at cruiseship refurbishment company MJM Marine.
Julian Smith, the Conservative MP for Skipton and Ripon, began work for the Belfast firm in March this year.
He was secretary of state for Northern Ireland until February last year.
