Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings suspects that it may not see last year's record results again until at least 2022, having begun this year almost $2bn in the hole amid debilitating Covid-19.

The Frank Del Rio-led owner of 28 vessels on Thursday reported a $1.9bn loss for the first quarter versus a $118m profit a year ago, thanks to a pandemic that has plagued the cruise sector with cancelled voyages and fleet layups.
