Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings has sent home part of its workforce for a few months, the latest measure to cut costs amid a pandemic that has cost the cruise industry billions in losses.
The Frank Del Rio-led owner of 28 vessels has furloughed 20% of both its 4,000 onshore workers and 32,000 seafarers through July as it pushes out its fleet lay-up through July.
