Miami-based Royal Caribbean Cruises announced on Tuesday evening that it had decided to keep its entire global fleet inactive for a further month.
In a statement released on its Twitter account, the company said its ships are now scheduled to resume cruise operations on 12 May instead of mid-April.
Cruise operations in Alaska, Canada and New England will resume on 1 July.
