Philippe Saverys, chairman of Belgium's CMB Group, died at his home on Monday at the age of 71, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Ghent on 15 July, 1930 Philippe Saverys started his career in law, graduating from the University of Ghent as a Doctor in Law.
He went on to work at Boel Shipyard where he started his career, and went on to hold senior management positions, including the post of chairman up to 1987.
