Port Everglades
Firefighters have begun a clean-up operation after a major spill at Port Everglades in Florida.

A leak from a tank on Wednesday morning allowed 100,000 gallons of jet fuel to escape, local media reported.

But a more serious incident was averted because the oil spilled into a containment area around the tank.

Much of the oil had been siphoned off into an empty tanker by Wednesday afternoon.
