The dramatic fall in dry bulk freight rates during the first two months of 2019 has fired up the derivatives market.

Broker Freight Investor Services (FIS) says in a note to clients that while earnings have taken a hit, the resulting volatility has acted as a “huge spur” to forward freight agreement (FFA) volumes, attracting new players to the market.
