Two Indian companies have launched legal action to be allowed to bring in coal through Mormugao Port.

Eight bulkers are stuck off the terminal with cargoes.

Vedanta and South West Port (SWP) are appealing to the Bombay high court, seeking a judicial intervention, the Indian Express reported.

In January, Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) revoked the "consent to operate" awarded to SWP due to a "gross breach" of coal-handling consent relating to mooring dolphins, the report said.
