Oman Shipping Company (OSC) has said it will launch an ambitious fleet expansion into boxships after placing an order for two VLCCs at DSME in Korea.

The shipowner is also considering increasing its bulker exposure, with second-hand deals likely.

CFO and acting CEO Michael Jorgensen said the new tankers are expected to be deployed in the spot market.

The DSME ships will add to the expanding $2bn fleet of 49 vessels, which includes 16 VLCCs, 17 product tankers and four chemical carriers, plus LNG carriers and bulkers.
