Seanergy Maritime chief executive Stamatis Tsantanis sees a silver lining in the dark cloud of low rates that has hung over capesizes since the Vale dam disaster in late January.

He says the Baltic Capesize Index, which has plummeted 93% to 122 points since the 25 January Bumandhino dam break, should spring back in this year's second half.

In the meantime, shipowners looking to buy capesizes may want to bring out their chequebooks.
