The decline in the German fleet is set to reverse and the country’s shipowners will be more professional and competitive as they tap the international finance markets, according to gas carrier and bulker owner Alfred Hartmann.
Visiting London just as the new German coalition government is formed, the Hartmann Reederei chief executive and German Shipowners’ Association (VDR) president told TradeWinds he believes politically the structure is now in place for the industry to recover.
