Israeli shipowner Idan Ofer has snapped up another major stake in Spanish football club Atletico Madrid.

The club said Chinese group Dalian Wanda had agreed to sell its 17% holding as it pays off overseas debt.

Ofer's Quantum Pacific Group now has 32% of the Madrid club, home to stars like Fernando Torres and Diego Costa.

Atletico Madrid’s chief executive, Miguel Angel Gil Marin, and its president, Enrique Cerezo, will remain the club’s majority shareholders.
